FORTY new care jobs are to be created in Halstead with the news that a new 70-bed home is to be built in the town by June, 2012.
The new development will replace the existing 30-bed Halstead Lodge, in Hedingham Road, and residents are being asked to help plan it.
Priory Hall in Colchester Road will include 70 cottages and apartments and a day centre available for non-residents in the town, as well as a shop, hairdressing salon and café. Work starts in June this year.
It is being built by Care UK and project manager Sara Goodwin said: “It is a very exciting project as the current residents of Halstead Lodge and their relatives and staff will be contributing ideas to the home’s development.
“The new home will also bring jobs to the town, with an estimated 40 new posts.”
