Organisers of a food festival staged in Sudbury for the second year running say they have had an excellent response from people wanting to take part.

The Taste of Sudbury takes place on June 22 and features stalls on Market Hill with live cookery demonstrations outside St Peter’s from local chefs and food producers.

Town centre manager Jane Hatton said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest of producers, growers and restaurants wanting to take part.

“Over half the exhibitors who took part last year have already booked their place this year.

“But we would like the majority of exhibitors to be from Sudbury, so would encourage them to contact me soon if they are interested as the places are given out on a first-come, first-served basis,” added Mrs Hatton.

The festival is organised by the Sudbury Town Team, which aims to maintain and enhance the economy of the town centre.

The group is offering a bursary to help people to exhibit at the festival because it wants to encourage new businesses and producers from the town to take part.

Last year, more than 4,000 people visited the festival.

Anyone who would like to apply for a bursary can contact Jane Hatton on 01787 468634 or email enquiries@tasteofsudbury.co.uk. For more information, go to www.tasteofsudbury.co.uk.
