A new farmers’ market proved a huge success at the weekend as hundreds of people flooded to the event, delighting the community.
Assington Farmers’ Market took place for the first time at The Barn on Sunday, with a healthy turnout of visitors from far and wide browsing 26 stalls.
Justine Paul, who spent six months preparing for the market, said: “I have worked so hard to make sure it works and I was thrilled to see so many people.
“The community here in Assington has been so supportive and so positive about and the turnout was very encouraging.”
Produce on offer included home-baked cakes, savoury pies and quiches, as well as fresh pesto and potted herbs.
Doreen Twitchett, who attended the event, said: “I’ve never seen so many people in Assington.
“It was lovely to see so many people here and to experience such a buzz again in the village.”
The market is held on the second Sunday of every month from 10am until 2pm.
