Daring charity fundraisers walked on fire to help St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The event, held at Melford Park ahead of the annual Big Night Out spectacular, attracted 25 brave participants and raised £3,000 for the cause.

One of the walkers, Timothy Pengally, said: “Walking over fire was quite a tingling sensation, but it was quite nice to warm our feet up as we were freezing standing on the wet grass.”

Hospice community fundraiser Jordan Hughes said: “The atmosphere was brilliant. The firewalk drew a number of people in, with the crowd giving lots of support.

“Everyone taking part was keen to do the walk, with one or two having a few nerves.

“We estimate it has raised at least £3,000 for the hospice, which is fantastic.

“Thankyou to everyone who took part, or sponsored our walkers.”
