A HADLEIGH man was taken to hospital after jumping from a first-floor window to escape a fire.
The blaze at the Magdalen Road flat broke out at around 2.15am on Monday morning.
Fire crews from Hadleigh and Ipswich were called to the incident, along with an ambulance, after reports that people were trapped inside the building.
Support firefighters from Nayland and Woodbridge also attended, as the flames spread through the ground floor of the property, which is divided into five flats.
A 32-year-old man living in one of the flats jumped from a first-floor window to escape the fire.
He was taken to hospital with head injuries, along with another casualty – a 26-year-old woman – as firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
The fire was brought under control shortly before 3am. It is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
