Final tribute to Kath, 110

THE life of Sudbury’s oldest resident Kathleen Grimwood, who died last month aged 110, will be celebrated at a service in the town’s St Gregory’s Church on Tuesday February 14.

Earlier the same day family and close friends will acknowledge her final wish when they say farewell at a funeral service in St Peter’s Church on Market Hill.

St Peter’s was made redundant 40 years ago and is now used for cultural and community events.

But Miss Grimwood told her family she wanted to be buried from the church where she was baptised and special permission has been given to hold the service there.

It wil be followed by burial at Sudbury cemetery.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at St Gregory’s Church at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The address will be given by Lord Phillips of Sudbury who was one of her close friends.

Former school matron Miss Grimwood was born in Sudbury. Her home at the Croft was a few doors away from the house where she spent her childhood.

She was one of the staunchest members of St Gregory’s congregation and went to morning service every Sunday until the final month of her life.
