CAVENDISH village fete and horticultural show had a very special guest of honour this year – the person who has organised it for the past 11 years.
Brian Kemp, who lives in the village, stepped down from the role this year, but fete organisers decided they could not let his hard work go unrewarded and he was given the top slot of officiating on Saturday.
He said: “I have run it for the past 11 years ever since it was conceived for the millennium with a £1,000 grant.
“I have decided to step aside but the organisers asked me to officiate and I was very happy to do so.”
The fete took place on the village green on Saturday afternoon with a hog roast being held on Sunday lunchtime.
Visitors were treated to a wide range of stalls and sideshows, including crafts and pottery making. The Long Melford Silver Band entertained the crowds.
