More than 200 Ormiston Sudbury Academy students, staff, members of the public and the Sudbury branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) joined forces last week for the Annual Service of Remembrance in the academy auditorium.

Branch president, Len Manning said that once again the RBL was pleased to work with the academy for an entertaining evening. He added: “It was a fantastic night, everybody really enjoyed it.”

In the first half the students performed a collection of dances of the time including the Charleston, Lindy hop and swing dances.

Margaret Cresswell, friend of the RBL branch, reminded audience members of the history of the Last Post and Ormiston students read out from a selection of wartime letters.

In total £818 was raised on the night from ticket sales and a collection, with further funds raised from the sale of poppies.
