Father to climb the three peaks in bid to support hospital

A father, whose son was born six weeks prematurely, is to scale the UK’s three largest peaks to raise funds for the hospital where he was cared for.

Dave Gooderham’s son George weighed just 4lbs 4oz when he was born last February. He spent two-and-a-half weeks in West Suffolk Hospital’s neonatal unit before being allowed home.

Along with five friends, Mr Gooderham, from Station Road, Long Melford, is planning to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours on July 12.

“I wanted to do something that would test myself and also hopefully raise some money for the hospital,” said the 34-year-old.

All money raised will be put towards a new £60,000 bereavement room at the hospital.
