An extra bus service will be running in Hadleigh over the Christmas period in a bid to increase visitors in and around the town.
The Hadleigh Community Transport Group will operate an additional bus service in the area for five weeks from December 3.
The service will run a timetabled route several times a day, every Tuesday and Friday.
Group manager Joy Moran said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional bus service which will be a huge boost to the town over the Christmas period.
“The service will be open to everyone, but it will be particularly useful to those who have no access to other forms of transport, including some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
“These people will now be able to get out and about over the Christmas period, either to go shopping, buy presents, take part in festive events or to visit loved ones.”
Money for the Christmas service has been raised from donations the transport group received from the town’s Co-op supermarket token scheme earlier this year.
Customers at the High Street store were given a token for every £5 they spent to put towards one of three local good causes, one of which was Hadleigh Community Transport. Each token was worth 5p to the group.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to the Co-op for its fabulous support, which has made this all possible,” said Mrs Moran.
The service will also link to routes to Sudbury and Ipswich.
