Exhibition to boost museum’s coffers

A painter staging a solo exhibition in Long Melford is raising money for Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury.

Scottish painter Michael Clark has 35 new works on show at an exhibition called A Painter’s Palette at Lime Tree Gallery in Hall Street on Saturday .

The palette he used creating the paintings has been mounted and framed and will be sold in aid of Gainsborough’s House, the birthplace of Sudbury artist Thomas Gainsborough.

Mr Clark said: “I think it is fantastic that the childhood home of one of our greatest artists is still making an active contribution to the artistic development and education of his community, almost 300 years after his birth.”

The month-long exhibition runs until April 22.
