The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich has called for ‘wisdom and vision’ as the Government steers the course through ‘uncharted waters’ in the wake of Brexit.
The Rt Revd Martin Seeley said: “A clear decision has been made, and now is a time for wisdom and vision as the Government and Parliament steer the course ahead through uncharted and choppy waters.
“I pray we come through this as one – in our local communities, in our nations and as the United Kingdom.
“We need to be attentive to the healing and reconciliation that is vital now.
“We pray now in particular for our political leaders, nationally and in Suffolk, and for those who feel vulnerable at this time.
“At the heart of the Christian message is Jesus’ command to love God and love our neighbours. Loving God gives us our unchangeable identity through these times of immense changes.
“Loving our neighbours, including those we disagree with profoundly, and our European neighbours here and on mainland Europe, will help ensure those changes are for the good of all.”
