More snow is on the way in the next few days in Sudbury and the surrounding area, according to the Met Office.

An amber weather warning was issued for much of the country including Sudbury for between 3am and 9pm on Friday. The Met Office website stated that: “Accumulations of more than five to 10cm of snow will occur quite widely in the region.”

Less severe yellow warnings were issued for Sudbury between 3am on Saturday and 9pm on Sunday, with light snow expected from 9am on Saturday, although this is expected to clear by 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures are forecast to stay between freezing and -2°C across the weekend, with Sunday the coldest day. Windchill will mean it feels closer to -5 or -6°C and motorists have been urged to avoid all unnecessary journeys and to take extra care on the roads.
