HEATING supplier Specflue has received international recognition for its green credentials.
The firm, which is based on Sudbury’s Chilton Industrial Estate, was recently attributed 14001 status.
This award is only given to companies which meet strict standards in managing their impact on the environment.
Graham Hawkins, Specflue’s account manager, said: “We take our commitment to environmental management extremely seriously and we are proud to receive such high-profile recognition.
“We were the first company in our industry to gain the 9001 quality management system standard and the 14001 award shows we are ahead of the game when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint.”
Specflue’s environmental commitment has seen its fleet of vans upgraded to Ecostart vehicles, while the company also recycles 100 per cent of its packaging.
A certificate from the Suffolk Carbon Charter, an initiative designed to make Suffolk the greenest county in England, was also given to the company this year.
Mr Hawkins said: “We understand that as businesses we have a responsibility to future generations to minimise our environmental impact.”
