Pupils at Glemsford Primary School will be able to enjoy more space for sports when work on its new field is completed next year.
Work to level the 1.8-acre site is set to take place at the site which lies immediately west of the school and is separated from the buildings by Shepherds Lane.
A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said: “Once this work is completed, the field will be seeded – most likely in late autumn.
“It will then take about a year for the field to be ready for use by the school.”
Headteacher Claire Farrant said: “It is going to really enhance the curriculum provision for PE.”
The county council struck an agreement in September to lease the land from a farmer at the peppercorn rent of £1 per year for 10 years.
