A RETIRING headteacher has been given the perfect send off with an exceptional school report.
Bernice Boyton-Corbett, who has been in charge of St Margaret’s Prep School in Gosfield for 15 years, will retire on a high after the Independent Schools Inspectorate rated the school as “outstanding”.
She said: “It is amazing – it is what everyone dreams about their school being.”
The report praised all areas of the school, stating that “pupils in all parts of the school are extremely well educated”, adding that “achievement for many is exceptional”.
The ISI report also graded the quality of pupils’ personal development, the management of the school and the effectiveness of early years foundation stage as outstanding, praising the “high-quality teaching, stimulating curriculum and highly-motivated learners”.
Year 3 teacher Susan Clarke said: “The inspectors could not find anything to criticise or recommend for improvement – it is a marvellous achievement.
“Everyone has been working really hard for this, and Bernice has brought it up to this amazing standard from nothing really. We are doing some fantastic things here.”
Mrs Boyton-Corbett is retiring after 40 years in education, but will undertake a new role at Cognita Schools, which owns several independent schools, including St Margaret’s.
