Year 11 pupils at Ormiston Sudbury Academy showed off their flowing gowns, high heels, tiaras and tuxedos as they ended the year in style on Friday at their prom.
More than 150 students joined in with the event, held for the second year at AFC Sudbury’s MEL Group Stadium in Brundon Lane.
The prom team, made up of pupils Georgia Vince, Grace Gardiner and Sade Napier, helped to organise the evening from start to finish, arranging coloured decorations and plenty of balloons to get the venue looking its very best on the night.
Caroline Wilson, principal at Ormiston Sudbury Academy, said it was “a brilliant way” to mark the end of the pupils’ time in Year 11, before they return as sixth-form students or leave for work or other colleges.
She said: “Thanks to all those who helped make it such a memorable occasion and I would like to wish them all the best for the future.”
Mrs Wilson said the venue had proved a hit with pupils over the last two years.
“This has proved to be a very popular venue as students can ride through the town in style to meet their friends and say their goodbyes,” she said.
The school had previously used Colchester Town Hall as its prom venue, with children meeting at the school gates before making their way to Colchester.
