LITTLE CHEFS: Schools food technology lessons are put to the test.

There was a frenzy of activity in the kitchens at Thomas Gainsborough School as young cooks set about making lunch.

On Thursday, Year 10 and 11 food technology pupils were working their culinary magic for members of Age UK, based in Chilton, as they welcomed them for a midday meal.

Shepherds pie was on the menu, with the food being served by the school’s health and social care students.

“This was about breaking down age-related stereotypes and for our youngsters to practise social skills,” said assistant headteacher Carmel Bavington.
