Long Melford Primary School children welcomed some strange guests to their classrooms on Wednesday as a variety of rainforest animals paid a visit.

Pupils in Years 1 and 2 had been learning about light and dark and discovered more about nocturnal creatures with the help of Princess Katie the rat, Rosie the tarantula, George the tree frog, Colin the cornsnake, Jarvis the cockroach and more from Cambridge-based company Zoo Lab. Other classes in the school have been focusing on rainforests this term.

Vicky Gentry, Year 1 and 2 teacher, said: “The children were very excited and handled some of the creatures.

“They all thoroughly enjoyed it and got a lot out of the visit.”
