An Essex school is celebrating after seeing 24 of its Year 6 pupils awarded prestigious senior school scholarships.
Pupils in their final year at St Margaret’s Prep School in Gosfield have earned music, sport and academic scholarships that will see them go on to study at independent senior schools in September.
The figure is even more remarkable as there are only 35 students in the entire year group.
Pupils have secured places at schools including New Hall School in Boreham, the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook and Ipswich School.
Principal Elaine Powling said she was delighted with her students’ achievements.
“Every single one of our Year 6 pupils should be extremely proud of themselves,” she said.
“They have all worked exceptionally hard throughout their education here at St Margaret’s.
“To have so many pupils in their last year awarded scholarships reflects our emphasis on the importance of all areas of school life, as well as music, sport and the arts.
“We thoroughly enjoy celebrating the achievements of our pupils, and this is just the latest in a long list of accomplishments.”
