Long Melford Primary School celebrated the official opening of its new classrooms by the Rev Ian Friars, rector of the village’s Holy Trinity Church, yesterday.
The two classrooms and activity centre were designed specifically for Year 5 pupils, who joined this year, and Year 6 pupils, who will come to the school in September. They were finished in time for the start of this school year.
Christopher Moulton, deputy headteacher at the school, said: “They give us a special place for our children that are now starting that we didn’t have before.
“The classrooms are purpose-built and have got a veranda for an outside quiet area. They have a different feel as they are for the older children and have been tailored to their needs.”
Mr Friars has worked closely with the primary school and said a speech and a prayer before cutting the ribbon.
