FEARSOME falcons and other beautiful birds soared through the Sudbury skies as they visited Uplands Middle School.

As part of Year 6 pupils’ studies of the Tudors, Ray Aliker, from Ye Olde Redtail Display falconry demonstrations, brought his collection of hawks, falcons, owls and Archie the vulture.

The children were given the chance to hold the birds and learn about their behaviour.

Pupil Shannon Margrie said: “It was an amazing experience to hold Anna the hawk and to see the birds fly.”

Humanities co-ordinator Sue Dye, who organised the event, added: “This was a different kind of learning experience for our pupils and it was a great deal of fun”.
