A Halstead man has been arrested after a collision left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

The motorcycle rider was injured following the collision in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham.

A 78 year-old man from the Halstead area was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury and driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs and has since been bailed to November 7.

Police were called to Swan Street at 4pm on Tuesday, October 28 following reports of a collision between a green Land Rover Freelander and a red Yamaha FZS 600.

The rider, a man in his 20s from Haverhill, was taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where his condition has been described as serious but not life-threatening.

The road was closed for nine hours while vehicles were recovered and a police investigation was carried out.
