Ninety-six-year-old Kathleen Turton, from Cavendish, was the first patient to use a new lift installed as part of an extensive refurbishment at Clare’s Guildhall Surgery.

As one of the practice’s oldest patients, she was invited along to cut the ribbon to officially open the new part of the building.

Practice manager Laverne Rose said 5,000 patients use the surgery, which now has improved access for people with disabilities.
