Disabled stay away

DISABLED people are being put off visiting Sudbury’s market because they cannot find anywhere to park.

Members of the town council said they had received numerous letters from disgruntled disabled residents saying they were being forced to miss out on market day as there were not enough designated spaces for them.

“People are complaining bitterly and saying that if they can’t park in the vicinity of Market Hill then they go back home,” said Sudbury mayor Jack Owen at a meeting on Tuesday.

Councillors voiced the idea of providing disabled parking behind the town hall in Gaol Lane and the north side of Market Hill, but these were not deemed viable.
