SIXTY years ago toady, Hugo and Beryl Harvey celebrated their first day of married life together.
Six decades on and the Hadleigh couple, who were married at All Saints’ Church in Semer, are still very much in love.
“I’ve been told there’s a secret, but I don’t know what it is,” said Beryl, 79.
“I don’t remember too much about the wedding, although it is a big achievement to reach our diamond anniversary and we’re very happy.”
The pair met in their late teens and tied the knot soon after. Hugo, now 78, spent 10 years in the Army and was a member of the force’s motorcycle display team.
After leaving the Army, Hugo set up a driving school and taught around Bildeston, where the couple lived for 47 years.
They have four sons, Steve, Mick, Paul and Kevin, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
