A Hadleigh woman is over the moon after a story in the Free Press led to the return of her beloved cats.

Black nine-year-old sisters Pharaoh and Peel vanished from their home in Clarence Road, Sudbury, when their owner, Anne Walker, moved to Hadleigh in August.

A heartbroken Mrs Walker made a plea for people to look out for them, through the Free Press on November 7.

She said this week: “Within 24 hours of the paper coming out, we had two calls from people telling us they had been feeding them. We are absolutely delighted – it is like Christmas has come early for us.”

The pair seem none the worse for their adventure, and appear to be very healthy, said Mrs Walker.

Speaking from her home in Emmerson Way, Hadleigh, Mrs Walker added:“We intend to really spoil them now and give them lots of cuddles.”

And this is the second piece of luck the cats have had in their lives – they came to the Walkers as rescue animals having been abandoned near Wattisham.
