Three villagers have high hopes of raising thousands of pounds this weekend – 164 feet high to be precise.

Boxford village hall committee members Veronica and Robert Hobbs, and chairman Julian Fincham-Jacques, hope to raise more than £2,000 in sponsorship by walking across the roof of the Millennium Dome, now called the O2, in east London. “I don’t like heights, so this is gong to be a challenge,” said Veronica.

The group will take around 90 minutes to complete the feat, wearing safety harnesses clipped to a rail going right across the roof of the building. Money raised will go towards improving the village hall.
