Cyclist killed in Sible Hedingham

A 23-year-old man has died after colliding with a car in Sible Hedingham last night (Sunday).

The man, who police have said is from the local area but has not yet been named, collided with a car in Swan Street, near to the junction with Cambridge Road, at around 9pm on Sunday.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from the Halstead area, was travelling in a Ford Fiesta towards Halstead when the collision happened.

Ambulance crews treated the 23-year-old at the scene before he was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford in a critical condition but he died this morning (Monday) with his family at his bedside.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident and anyone with information should call the Serious Collision Investigation unit on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
