Sudbury businesses which received the most customer reviews on the town’s thebestof Sudbury marketing website are to receive their awards at a national celebration ball.

Justine Paul, founder of Suffolk Market Events, won Sudbury Business of the Year 2016 in an initiative run by thebestof Sudbury, which is part a national network promoting independent, recommended businesses.

Justine, who came top with a total of 42 reviews during January, runs award-winning farmers’, craft and events markets covering Sudbury, Nayland and Lavenham, Clare and Bury St Edmunds.

She said: “It is an honour to be recognised for the job that we do. We have loved receiving the reviews and reading what our customers actually think of us. It’s been a very motivating and positive experience for everyone associated with the business.”

In second place with 34 reviews was graphic design company, Polyspiral, which is run by designer Abbie Thoms. Third with 22 reviews was chiropractor Alexander Smith.

Penny Wilby, owner of thebestof Sudbury, said: “Sudbury is one of the smallest areas within thebestof network and so we were competing against towns and cities such as Bolton, Leicester, Manchester. I’m really pleased with how thebestof Sudbury members did.

“On behalf of the businesses, I would like to thank every single person who took the time to leave a review. By doing so they publicly-acknowledged the contribution that these businesses make to our local economy.”

She added: “Justine Paul is a very worthy winner. The number and quality of the reviews she received are a real testament to Justine’s excellent farmers’ markets serving our area.”

Winners will be invited to a celebration ball in April run nationally by thebestof which ran the campaign at a national and town level. People were asked to show their support for their favourite business by submitting a review of their service. At a national level, more than 48,000 verified reviews were left for businesses who had qualified to take part in the awards.
