A SCHOOL swing band is to give its last performance after 24 years of performing.
The Hadleigh High School swing band is appealing for past members to play in the group’s final concert on July 17.
It will officially disband when Ray Brown, co-director and head of music at the school, retires at the end of the academic year.
Co-director Peter Espley, who has already retired but still helps lead the band, said the group would be missed.
He said: “There’s been a lot of disappointment from students, parents and from the places we’ve entertained over the years.
“The band has been such a good advert for the school, with a lot students coming here just for the music.”
Mr Epsley was keen to encourage former players to join the band for its final performance.
“We want anyone who can play to come along to the final concert,” he said. “Even if you haven’t got an instrument, I’m sure the band can help you out. The idea is to have some fun.”
The performance will start at 7.30pm at Woolpit Village Hall.
