POLICE are warning shops in Sudbury to be vigilant after fake £20 notes were discovered to be circulating in the town.
Officers say they want people to be on their guard against counterfeit money, especially during the busy Christmas shopping period.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said: “A number of counterfeit £20 notes were discovered in takings being deposited at a bank in the Sudbury area last week.
“Particular attention should be paid to customers paying for low-value items with a high-value note.”
Anyone with information about the counterfeit notes should contact Sudbury Police on 101.
