Warning over census

POLICE are reminding householders to remain vigilant as they fear the 2011 census may give distraction burglars the chance to strike.

Suffolk Police are calling on people to check the identification of those calling at their homes.

If the questionnaire is not completed, a census collector will visit homes to collect the information.

However, if the census form is completed and returned, then no-one should call for the information.

Residents are asked to always use a chain when opening the door, to check identification and to close the door and not let someone in if they have concerns.

A pre-arranged appointment with a collector can also be made via the census helpline on 0300 0201 101 or by visiting www. census.gov.uk.
