Warning issued after distraction burglary in Sudbury

Police are appealing for information after a distraction burglary at a home in Sudbury.

The incident happened around 1pm on Saturday 21 November in East Street.

As a woman returned home from shopping she has been approached by a woman and a girl. The girl has gestured that she needed the toilet and has been allowed into the house.

Whilst, the woman unloaded her shopping, the girl has made her way to the bathroom area and the other woman has waited in the living room. The girl has then reappeared and both have then left.

After they had left, the woman has noticed her purse was missing from her handbag.

The girl is described as white, around 16 to 17 years old, 5 ft 5 ins tall, of thin build and with dark hair that was tied back.

The woman is described as white, 5 ft 5 ins tall, of thin build, with dark fuzzy hair and wearing a jacket made of cloth material. She is also described as being older than the girl. Both spoke with a foreign accent.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, to contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting reference number 16266/15.

Police would like to remind residents to be cautious when dealing with any unknown callers and to remember that you do not have to open your door to anyone, especially someone you are not expecting.
