A man had his jaw broken in a violent assault in Halstead on Saturday.

The attack took place near a kebab shop in the High Street, between 12.30am and 12.45am.

The 20-year-old victim, who is from Halstead, was knocked unconscious in the attack and cannot remember what happened. Detectives believe that he was assaulted by up to three men.

Detective Sergeant Becky Young, from Braintree CID, who is leading the investigation, said: “This young man had his jaw broken in three places. He has had surgery to have his jaw plated together and, as a result of these injuries, we have not yet been able to talk to him.

“We believe that up to three men were involved in the incident and we want to hear from anyone who was in the High Street, near Roses kebab shop, at the time and saw what happened.”

Anyone with information should contact DS Young or her team at Braintree on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
