Police link three crimes

POLICE are appealing for information after a spate of crimes in Glemsford.

Overnight between Friday and Saturday, a van was stolen, a car broken into and glass smashed in the door of shop.

The first incident took place between 6.30pm on Friday and 5.40am the next morning, when a red Ford Escort van was stolen from a driveway in Crown Field Road. The van was later found burnt out in a field in Shepherds Lane.

At around the same time, thieves broke into a blue Peugeot 106 in the same street by forcing a door. A steering lock was damaged in the attempted theft.

Raiders then attempted to break into the village’s post office in Fair Green at around 3.50am on Saturday. Glass in a door was smashed, but no entry was made.

Following the incident, a man was seen getting into a red van which drove off towards Sudbury. He is described as white and in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He was wearing shorts and a brown T-shirt.
