A COUNCILLOR was asked to leave a meeting by police last Tuesday night for breaching the peace.

The member of Long Melford Parish Council was warned about his conduct by Pcso Hannah Partington, who was present to give a report.

After his behaviour continued, he was asked to leave.

A police spokeswoman said: “We received a call to the parish council meeting as it was getting out of hand.

“By the time a second unit arrived, the man was being spoken to outside. He calmed down and was allowed back in to the meeting.”

Parish council chairman John Watts declined to comment on the matter.
