An investigation into an alleged fraud involving a former Glemsford Parish Council clerk has been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Sara Turner was sacked in June 2011 as police began an investigation into alleged financial problems at the council.

The investigation has been ongoing since then, with councillors telling residents that cases of this nature can take up to three or four years.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said: “The investigating officer has submitted the case to the CPS for it to consider.”

The CPS will evaluate any evidence gathered by police and decide whether it can bring a prosecution.

No arrests have been made.
