A police officer will not be charged with dangerous driving in connection with the death of a 19-year-old former Sudbury Upper School pupil.

Matthew Seddon died in Reading on February 11 when his Ford Fiesta collided with the central reservation after he was chased by six police cars and hit by at least one vehicle after crashing.

A spokeswoman for the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is investigating the circumstances of Mr Seddon’s death, said its inquiries were “progressing well”.

“We passed a file to the Crown Prosecution Service in connection with one officer in relation to the criminal offence of careless driving. The CPS will take no further action in connection with this.”

Mr Seddon’s family, who live in Sudbury, are being kept up to date with the investigation.
