A SENIOR police boss has denied there is a problem with class A drugs after a man was convicted of carrying crack cocaine.
Lemar Davidson, who is currently serving a jail sentence at Wellingborough Prison in Northamptonshire, appeared before Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court.
The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of five grammes of cocaine, with intent to supply, in Great Cornard, in March last year. He was handed a six-month jail term to run concurrently.
Speaking after the case, Sergeant Kevin Horton, of Sudbury Police, said incidents of this nature were rare.
“We have to be realistic,” he said. “There will probably always be low-scale problems with drugs, but incidents of this type are few and far between.”
