Grave theft angers woman

A LONG Melford woman has branded thieves who stole from her parents’ graves “despicable”.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said that she was shocked to find that holly and berries planted in a pot beside the graves in the village cemetery before Christmas had been stolen.

She said: “The holly looked lovely and had only been there for a few days.

“When I discovered it was missing, I felt sad and angry that someone could desecrate the memory of our loved ones in such a way.

“How could anyone steal from a grave in a cemetery. It’s a despicable act.”

The woman added that the holly had been put down on December 15 and that it had gone missing between then and her next visit on December 20.

“I don’t understand why someone would do such a thing, particularly at this time of year,” she said.

“The holly and soil was frozen, so they’ve clearly gone to some effort to get it.

“I hope they feel remorse for what they’ve done.”
