Fresh appeal to trace man

A RENEWED appeal has gone out for information on the whereabouts of Suffolk Police’s most wanted criminal.

Crimestoppers wants help in tracing Alfie Smith, who is wanted in connection with a number of offences, including conspiracy to commit burglary and money laundering, in Babergh, St Edmundsbury and Mid Suffolk between May, 2009, and February, 2010.

The 31-year-old, who is also wanted by Essex Police, is described as white, around 5ft 9in tall, of large build and with short brown hair. He has a number of scars on his face and tattoos on both arms.

His last known address was in Barnardiston and he is known to have contacts across the country.

Ann Scott, Crimestoppers eastern regional manager, said: “If you have any information on Alfie Smith, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, you can give information to Crimestoppers anonymously, either online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.”

It is believed Smith is responsible for a spate of burglaries from residential sheds and garages to farm outbuildings, business premises and ATMs.

Stolen or cloned vehicles were also used during the crimes and items stolen ranged from power tools to landscaping machinery and cash and cigarettes.

It is estimated that up to 70 premises were targeted.
