MORE than 200 motorists were caught speeding in Suffolk every day during a week-long speed enforcement campaign.
Officers were deployed countywide to increase checks and enforcement during the scheme in a bid to clampdown on people speeding.
During the campaign, which took place last month, a total of 1,554 motorists were caught speeding.
Of these, 1,303 were caught by police officers and Suffolk Safety Camera Partnership cameras, with the remaining 251 caught by fixed cameras.
Inspector Bruce Gent, from the force’s roads policing unit, said: “It is very disappointing that there are so many people not taking notice of our warnings and driving at excessive speed.
“Our officers have been working hard to highlight the issue of speeding through enforcement and education and drivers should know that there is never an excuse for flouting the speed limit.”
