Sudbury man jailed

A SUDBURY man has been jailed for 16 weeks after assaulting a woman.

Michael Head, 66, of Cornard Road, was sentenced at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Monday, having pleaded guilty to assaulting Ann Whitbread in Sudbury on July 25 at an earlier hearing.

Head had also admitted causing criminal damage to property belonging to Mrs Whitbread, including a TV, microwave, laptop and patio table, 10 days prior to the attack.

Both offences were committed while he was subject to a 12-month conditional discharge, imposed last September.

Head was given no separate penalty for the criminal damage but was given a restraining order relating to Mrs Whitbread.
