Hadleigh arson police speak to 200 people

Nearly 200 people have come forward to help police investigating an arson attack at a fuel depot in Hadleigh.

Three fuel tankers, carrying around 40,000 litres of kerosene, gas oil and road diesel, parked at UKay Fuels’ depot in Lady Lane were set alight last month, causing several big explosions in what police are treating as an arson attack.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but the damage to the vehicles, fuel, fencing and concrete was estimated at costing UKay Fuels more than £500,000.

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: “We are progressing several lines of inquiry, including CCTV footage and information gained from nearly 200 members of the public from anniversary checks – made a week after the arson attack.”

She said that the attack was not being linked to any other recent attacks in the town, including an arson which destroyed four cars in Raven Way, less than 24 hours before the depot was targeted.

Anyone with information about the attack should contact police on 101.
