Family tribute paid to Sible Hedingham crash victim, 23.
Brent Jelley, 23.
The family of a 23-year-old cyclist killed in a collision with a car in Sible Hedingham on Sunday have said he “had a heart of gold”.
Brent Jelley, who lived in the village, died yesterday morning (Monday) in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
He was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta, driven by a 20-year-old man from the Halstead area, near the junction between Swan Street and Cambridge Avenue at around 9pm on Sunday.
Mr Jelley’s family said: “Brent was a really likeable lad who had a heart of gold who everybody loved. He was always smiling. He loved his nephews and niece, he was brilliant with the kids.”
Mr Jelley spent his first two years living in Sible Hedingham before his family moved to Ipswich.
He returned to live in Great Yeldham between the ages of five and 13, when he attended Hedingham Comprehensive School. He then moved to Spain with his mother.
His family added: “Aged 16, he returned to Sible Hedingham where he remained. He had various jobs, working as a builder’s labourer, or a roofer.
“Brent leaves his father Norman and mother Gillian, as well as his three older brothers Ross, Dale and Aden.”
Officers from Essex Police’s serious collision investigation unit are continuing to investigate the collision and have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
