A man has been given a conditional discharge after admitting a charge of assault.

Robert Palmer, 61, of Sparrow Road, Great Cornard, pleaded guilty to assaulting Judith Palmer on July 22 when he appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He was conditionally discharged for two years and given a restraining order not to contact Mrs Palmer, apart from through Kevin Palmer.

He was ordered to pay £200 compensation and £40 court costs.
