The new owners of a Long Melford tea room – who began trading just three weeks ago – have been overwhelmed by local support.
In just six days, Mike Smith and Faye Langton picked up the keys, gave the place a makeover and opened the doors to Tiffins Tea Emporium in Hall Street.
For the couple, who have been together for 18 years, it marks their first venture into business together.
With Faye’s family ties to the village and Long Melford’s reputation for producing successful independent businesses, Mike said Tiffins was the perfect choice for them.
“We have been visiting Long Melford for years now,” said the 42-year-old. “It is a beautiful location.
“I have always said that if a little shop came up for sale, I would be chomping at the bit to get in there.”
Mike, a contracts manager from Essex, is responsible for the numbers, while Faye, 33, a make-up artist and keen baker, looks after the front of house.
Mike said they had been overwhelmed by the feedback from customers and local support since they began trading.
“I believe we have changed the place for the better,” he said. “We have tried to put our own stamp on it.
“People are really pleased with the changes and have given us some fabulous feedback.”
