A newly funded football club has launched their first educational event aimed at under 18 players.

Cornard FC Chairman Dave Collins said they hope to put on three to four educational sessions a year.

“The new committee has set a number of objectives for the future and one of these is to provide awareness and prevention sessions for those involved with the club,” he said.

“The under 18 team are made up of players aged 15 to 18 and CUFC recognises that this age group may be presented with new risks as they grow into young men.”

On Tuesday evening crew commander Danny Forster from Suffolk Fire and Rescue presented a session on the hazards associated with road traffic accidents and how to prevent them.

At the next event the Safer Neighbourhood Team will talk to players about drug and alcohol awareness.
