A YEAR on from its closure, a village church could find a new lease of life as a home.

The final mass was held at the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in Nayland in September last year.

Built in 1902, the church was forced to close due to a shortage of priests.

A planning application has now been made to Babergh District Council to convert the building into a home. Plans include putting in a mezzanine floor, new windows and a door.
